Quote
"Curses! Foiled again!"

Snidley Whiplash is the main antagonist of the Dudley Do-Right of the Mounties segments. He is Dudley's arch-nemesis and the most wanted crimminal in Canada.

Biography

"One look at his black hat and curled black moustache will tell you that Snidely Whiplash is an arch villain, which everyone knows is the most despicable kind of villain. The scourge of the Canadian North, Snidely is public enemy number-one to Dudley Do-Right and the Mounties. They will stop at nothing to foil his dastardly schemes, most of which seem to revolve around tying Nell Fenwick to any available length of railroad track."

History

Dudley-Ro Right

Whiplash is the stereotypical villain in the style of stock characters found in silent movies and earlier stage melodrama, wearing black clothing and a top hat and with a handlebar moustache. Whiplash has a henchman named Homer, who usually wears a tuque. In the cartoon's opening segments, Snidely is seen tying Nell Fenwick to a railroad track. He is the opposite of Dudley, who is the archetype of goodness and a Royal Canadian Mounted Policeman.

Rocky and Bullwinkle

Snidely appears at the wedding, where he is the only guest invited by the "bride". While Rocky and Natasha are fighting, the guests receive various treats as a result of the fencing while Snidely receives nothing.

Personality

Snidely tries everything he can to get rid of Dudley Do-Right, the man who can do no wrong, and foil the Mounties, usually smuggling things across the border, kidnapping Nel Fenwick, or trying to take over the Mountie's post. Snidley knows he is a villain and takes pride in it.

However, on one occasion, Snidely expressed open disgust at his wickedness, to the point of saying that he "hates himself" for his habit of tying innocent women to railroad tracks, and was actually glad when Dudley arrested him, though Nell got him acquitted in an initially rigged trial (Dudley played the judge) by claiming that Snidely was an orphan who developed a habit of tying women to railroad tracks because no one was there to teach him any better.

Physical Appearance

Snidely usually has blue, ashy skin and a long, curly mustache. He usually wears a dark-purple outfit, a top hat and carries a crane.
