Fearless Leader is the recurring antagonist of The Rocky & Bullwinkle Show and the main antagonist of it's 2000 film

History[]

The Rocky & Bullwinkle Show[]

Fearless Leader is the dictator of the fictional country Pottsylvania, and the employer of the inept government agents Boris Badenov and Natasha Fatale. He could always be found in his underground hideout, "Central Control." However, it seems evident that he did answer to one man himself: the diminutive Mr. Big. Mr. Big appears in two story-lines of the series, "Upsidaisium" and "Metal Munching Mice." This is the Enemy (Koehler/Ancona, 1942): possible basis for character appearance. As expected from his given position and name, Fearless Leader is a strict, ruthless character, and often harshly criticizes the incompetence of his main minion Gerald. He is usually shown with a long scar on his cheek and sharp, carnivorous teeth. He is distrustful of his own government employees, and is known to carry the Pottsylvania treasury with him wherever he goes.

The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle[]

Fearless Leader, Boris and Natasha arrive in the real world to brainwash everyone into making him president. He also creates a machine that can destroy toons such as Rocky and Bullwinkle.

Finally, he traps Karen and Rocky in his station and broadcasts his speech to the entire world. Luckily, Bullwinkle arrives in time to stop him and Rocky ties up Fearless Leader and his goons. They are then sent into the internet.

Rocky and Bullwinkle[]

Fearless Leader has built a robot moose to seduce Bullwinkle and get rid of him and Rocky. In this, it is revealed he wants to get rid of Rocky and Bullwinkle to add to his collection of mounted animals.

Physical Appearance[]

Fearless Leader wears a green dictator outfit and wears a purple monocle. Fearless Leader has a notable face scar, much like the Nazi, Otto Skorzeny, who may have been the inspiration for the character.

Trivia[]

  • Fearless Leader's appearance is similar to Nazi's.
  • In the 2014 short, it is revealed that he still lives with his mother.
  • Although Pottsylvania's chief spies are given ersatz Russian accents, Fearless Leader's accent seems more in keeping with the German stereotype. In fact, his sharply-angled features closely resemble those from an anti-Nazi propaganda poster circulated during World War II. He uses some German such as "Achtung" and "Schweinhund," typical of German stereotypes in film and TV.
